The University of Newcastle

Refurbishment of Huxley Library and Hunter Learning Spaces

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed by The University of Newcastle as head contractor to undertake the refurbishment of the Huxley Library and Hunter Learning Spaces at their Callaghan Campus. Our work involved the creation of a student information common area within the Huxley Library and the refurbishment of existing teaching and learning spaces in the Hunter Building (Hunter Learning Spaces).

Refurbishment of Student Spaces and Laboratories, Merewether Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the refurbishment of student spaces and laboratories in the Merewether Building at the University of Sydney.  Our work involves the demolition of existing walls and the construction of new partition walls, the installation of mechanical, electrical and AV equipment and joinery for new workstations, painting and lighting.

Internal Refurbishment of F10 Food Technology & Consolidation Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor for The University of New South Wales, Food Science & Technology Consolidation Project in the Applied Science Building F10. The project consists of part demolition, construction and fit out to levels 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 & 9 within an occupied ten storey building.  The new works involves the construction of membrane fabrication rooms, membrane laboratories, analytical laboratories, offices, computer rooms, PC1 laboratories (350m2), PC2 laboratory to level 8 (173m2), walk in freezers & cold rooms, AQIS laboratory, tissue culture laboratory, thermalphysic laboratory and teaching laboratories.

Refurbishment of Mary White College Blocks

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed by The University of New England as head contractor to undertake the Refurbishment of the Mary White College Blocks. This project involves the removal of all asbestos within blocks 1, 2, 3 & 4 and the complete internal demolition and refurbishment of blocks 1, 2, and 3 to BCA standard.   Block 4 work involves the refurbishment and repair of the external wall tanking system and the removal and replacement of the timber flooring.

Refurbishment of Agronomy Building for Climate Change Laboratory

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the alteration and refurbishment of the first floor of the Agronomy Building W023 at The University of New England.  Our role involved the demolition of the existing interior and the fitout of PC2 laboratories for Climate Change research.

Refurbishment of New Soft Materials & Biophysical Laboratory

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor by The University of Sydney for the refurbishment and fitout of New Soft Material and Biophysical Laboratories on Level 3 of the School of Chemistry Building.  The works involve the refurbishment of three areas for the purposes of compliance with AS/NZS2243.3-2002 and involve the complete fitout of new laboratories including demolition, finishes, joinery, fume cupboards and services and installation of mechanical services.  The total area is approximately 370m².

Upgrade of Carslaw Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the upgrade of the Carslaw building at The University of Sydney. Our work involves four projects within the Carslaw building including the refurbishment of the former library space on level 8 into a mixed use space by for postgraduates; the upgrade of computing laboratories on level 7; the upgrade of the Biology laboratories to PC2 standard; and combining three separate spaces into one refurbished space to provide office accommodation.

PBG accelerated the programme to enable early handover of Levels 3 & 7 in order to have the teaching areas (PC2 laboratories) ready for students by 2 March 2009.  We were awarded the project on 14 January 2009, commenced on site 16 January 2009 and completed levels 3 and 7 by 28 February 2009, much to the satisfaction of The University of Sydney.

Refurbishment of Holme Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as head contractor by The University of Sydney to undertake the design and construct refurbishment of Level 4 of the Holme Building.  Our work included the demolition and strip out of the existing 160m2 area and the fitout of new partitions, floor finishes, installation of new workstations and joinery, the upgrade of existing electrical services including power, data and the installation of new air conditioning units.  This new facility will accommodate more workspaces and temporary accommodation for extra staff currently occupied by the University Student Union Venue Collection Offices.

Refurbishment of Mackintosh Medical Anatomy Tutorial Rooms

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the internal refurbishment of the Mackintosh Medical Anatomy Tutorial Rooms at the University of Sydney.  Our role involved the demolition of a series of seven existing medical storage and educational teaching spaces, and replace with a single Physical Containment Level 1 Anatomy teaching laboratory space.  The area is segmented into an entrance/wet area and the main laboratory space.

Internal Refurbishment of Pharmacy Bank Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the internal refurbishment of Rooms 245 & 247 of the Pharmacy Bank Building at the University of Sydney.  Our work involves the demolition of existing building elements including existing masonry wall, door, floor and ceiling finishes, fixtures and fittings, redundant air conditioning plan and ductwork and related items necessary to complete the upgrade of these rooms.

Refurbishment of Rooms 226, 227, Education Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the refurbishment of Rooms 226 & 227 in Education Building at The University of Sydney to provide Post Graduate Computer Laboratories for the Faculty of Arts with a 30 computer capacity, a kitchenette and group study points.

Refurbishment of Electrical Engineering Building J03

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed by The University of Sydney as the head contractor to undertake the construction of a research and teaching facility for Power Engineering.  The works will be carried out on levels 2 & 3 of the Electrical Engineering Building JO3.  The refurbishment works include the demolition of existing facades, masonry internal walls, floor finishes, fixtures and overhead crane. The new works involve structural works to the existing walls to enable windows and roller shutters to be installed, extensive services, new ceilings and wall systems, floor finishes and extensive joinery suitable for the specific electrical engineering teaching spaces.

Refurbishment of Level 3, Education Building

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed by The University of Sydney as head contractor to undertake the refurbishment of the Level 3 administration area of the Education Building.  The works involved the removal and demolition of existing materials and the construction of a centralised administration area and associated services works including an upgraded mechanical system, new plant platform and louvers within the pitched roof space to accommodate the air conditioning units which served the entire building.

Refurbishment of Levels 1 & 2, Edward Ford Building A27

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake the upgrade and refurbishment of various rooms and offices on levels 1 and 2 of the Edward Ford Building A27 of The University of Sydney. Our work included the demolition of existing offices, and the fitout of new partitions, floor finishes, installation of new workstations and joinery, the relocation of existing furniture, the upgrade of existing electrical services including power and data and the installation of new air conditioning units. 

NSW Fire Brigades

Alterations and Additions to Ingleburn Training Centre

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor by the NSW Fire Brigades for the alterations and additions to Ingleburn Training Centre.  The works involved an office refurbishment including mechanical services and electrical services, upgrades of lunch room halls and upgrade of ablutions and a new disabled toilet.  The construction programme was initially ten weeks however PBG were able to undertake the works within an eight week period.

Alterations and refurbishment of Squarehouse FBE Workshop

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was engaged as head contractor to undertake the alterations and refurbishment to the Squarehouse FBE Workshop (Faculty of Built Environment) at the University of New South Wales.  These works involved the demolition of the internal areas of the existing Squarehouse, the internal refurbishment including, new walls, ceilings, floors, display cabinets, joinery, services for the new machinery layout.  Total area of works was 1300m2.  The contract also included the removal of the plant and machinery from the existing building and relocate, connect, test and commission in their new location in the Squarehouse Building.

Patterson Building Group was engaged to undertake the refurbishment and alterations of two teaching laboratories at the School of Medical Sciences at the Kensington Campus of The University of New South Wales.  Comprising two floors, the works involved the demolition of existing offices, ceiling and floor finishes and the fitout of Ground Floor offices, Ground Floor Teaching Laboratories and Level 2 Teaching Laboratories.  The works involved extensive co-ordination between services, equipment and joinery.  The project was successfully completed within the programme period of 12 weeks.

Refurbishment of Level 1, Rupert Myers Building

Patterson Building Group was engaged to undertake the demolition and internal fitout of the north western wing of Level 1, Rupert Myers Building at the Kensington Campus of the University of New South Wales.  The works involved the demolition of existing offices, ceiling and floor finishes and the installation of new walls, ceilings, floor coverings, automatic doors and extensive joinery.  The works were successfully completed within the programme period of 6 weeks.

Refurbishment of existing Medical Research Building and laboratories at St George Hospital

Patterson Building Group was engaged on behalf of UNSW to undertake the refurbishment of an existing ground floor medical research building for UNSW BRC and St George Hospital.  The works involved stripping existing internal walls and replacing with heavy duty metal stud, 13mm plasterboard including insulation; the installation of the mechanical services which utilises a system capable of providing 100% outside air; provision of a PC2 lab, autopsy room and two surgeries with pre-op and post-op facilities.

Macquarie University

Unicom Credit Union, Internal Fitout of premises

Patterson Building Group was engaged to demolish existing offices and glazed walls to provide a suitable retail space including the construction of new shopfronts, new services and internal works.  The works was successfully completed within the contract period and the client is delighted with their new outlet.  Patterson Building Group also project managed the DA, CC and Occupation Certificate process for the client including controlling the extensive approval process with Macquarie University’s Building & Grounds Security Division to enable an ATM to be located within the new branch outlet.

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the contractor to undertake the PC2 Laboratory & Office Refurbishment to Level 6 of the Medical Science Building at the University of Newcastle. The works involved the demolition of existing offices and the construction PC2 laboratories, darkrooms, behavioural suite, anteroom, holding rooms, tissue culture room, developing room, wash up areas and offices on Level 6 of the Medical Sciences Building. The works required extensive co-ordination between services, equipment and joinery.

Patterson Building Group Pty Limited was appointed as the head contractor to undertake both the low and high voltage electrical works (two separate projects) at the Camden Campus for the University of Sydney.  The project involves the connection of two networks, the deletion of a redundant pad mounted substation and the connection of a research unit to the mounted substation.

Macquarie University

Gumnut Cottage Kitchen Refurbishment

Patterson Building Group was engaged to undertake the demolition and full replacement of an existing commercial kitchen within a childcare facility operated by the Students at Macquarie.  The works involved detailed design and consultation with the client to ensure the correct selection of appliances and the layout of the design suited the operational requirements of the kitchen.  The works were completed within the programme period of 2 weeks to coincide with the end of year vacation.
